One important skill the children can develop is the ability to turn shapes or objects in a variety of ways and notice how they change; these are called “transformations.” Start with simple objects from the classroom such as small vehicles or animals. Give the children directions such as, “Turn your car over,” or “Lay your animal on its side.” Encourage them to look at each other's objects and compare. How do they look different? How are they the same? This can be done in small group.
