You will need a sheet of construction paper with a line drawn to divide the page in half, ten counters and a die for each child. Have the children put all the counters on the upper half of the paper. Have the children roll the die and remove that number of counters from the top half of the paper and place on the lower half. Have them count how many they still have on the upper half. Say, “You started with ten counters and removed four counters from the top half of your paper. How many do you have left?”
