Choose seeds that sprout quickly, such as beans or peas, and plant the seeds with the children. Place the plant in a sunny window and have the children help water it regularly. Observe the plant as it grows. Take pictures of the changes in the plant every week and/or have the children draw pictures of the plant to display. Encourage the children to think about how the plant grows. Talk about why the plant needs water and sunlight. Say, “We are watering the plant so it will grow,” or ask “Why did we put the plant in the sunshine?”
