Have the children help create pages for a class book with a text pattern based on Sue William's I Went Walking. Cut logos from local stores, from newspaper ads or advertising circulars. Encourage the children to choose the logo of their choice and glue it on the page. “I went driving. What did you see? I saw _______.” Have them read the text with you and point to the logo. The children can add buildings, roads and cars to their picture with crayons. Bind the pages and read the book in large group; place it in the library area for independent reading. This can be done in small group.
