Meaningful Conversations

Choose a time each day and engage in a rich, meaningful conversation with a child. Make a list so you talk with every child every week. This means a back-and-forth exchange for three to four minutes about whatever the child is interested in talking about. Lunch or center time may be a good time for this. Ask the child open-ended questions about the activities he/she is engaged in such as, “Tell me what you are doing? What do you think would happen if...?”
