Provide a clear cup of multi-flavored jelly beans. Have the children taste one or two and describe them using words such as “sweet,” “hard” or “sour.” Have the children sort the remaining flavors into a second set of clear cups. Pour a cup of water over the jelly beans. Ask the children to describe what is happening. As the water changes color, ask the children what they think the water will taste like. Pour each child a sample amount of “jelly bean juice.” Have them taste and describe it. Finally, take the jelly beans out of the water and have the children observe, taste again and describe.
