Read The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss with the children. Talk about how much care it takes to make a small seed grow. Bring in real carrots from the grocery store that are not prepackaged to show them what they look like when they are pulled from the ground. Encourage the children to wash, cut and taste the carrot or use the leafy green part to paint. This can be done in small group.
