Place a few water wheels in the water/sensory table along with measuring cups in different sizes. Pour water in the table. Before the activity, talk about the children's prior experience with the water wheels. Discuss what it looks like and different ways to spin it such as by blowing on it, spinning it by hand or pouring water over it. Suggest that the children experiment with pouring water onto the wheels in different ways – slowly, quickly or all at once. Comment on what the children are doing. Say, “When you poured the water, you made the wheel spin. Can you make it spin faster? Or for a longer time?”
