While inside, have the children look out the window to predict what they think the weather might be like when they go outside for outdoor time. Ask questions to guide their thinking. For example, if the child says, “It's sunny,” then your reply might be, “Does that give you a clue about whether it's warm or cold?” Ask “Do you think it's windy? How can you tell?” When the children go outside, get them to check their predictions. Take a streamer to verify that it's windy. Talk about incorrect predictions. “We thought it would be warm since it was sunny, but it's chilly. Sometimes our predictions are not correct and we need to change them.”
