During outdoor time, fill a plastic bucket about three-fourths full of water. Provide a selection of rocks for the children to drop into the water. As they drop them in one by one, encourage them to notice what is happening to the water level. Ask them to predict what might happen if they keep adding rocks. Encourage them to predict when the water will overflow the bucket. Will it be with this rock? Or the next one? Or the one after that?
