Create a shape box out of a shoe box by cutting two geometrical holes in the lid. Provide an object to fit into each hole (such as a ball for the round hole and a block for the square hole). Get the child's attention and place the objects into the corresponding holes. Hand one of the objects to the child and show him/her which hole to put it in. Assist if needed. Repeat with the other object. After a time, see if he/she can do it independently.
