Instrument Counting

Gather some of your rhythm instruments and use them for this counting activity. Lay out two different groups of instruments, such as four rhythm sticks and two shakers. Count each set, and then encourage the children to combine them to see “how many instruments in all” there are. Repeat with several other groupings: one drum and two tambourines, two maracas and three triangles, and so on.
