Leaf Pounding

Gather the following materials: 2 wooden blocks, 2 rubber bands, white square pieces of fabric, large green leaves and magnifying glasses. Place the leaf on the wooden block, place the fabric on top and secure it by placing the rubber bands around the top and bottom of the block. Encourage the children to use the other block to pound the fabric. Show the children how the imprint of the leaf penetrated the fabric, peel the fabric from the block and encourage the children to label the different parts of the leaf. This can be done in small group.
