Sometimes children behave impulsively because they have difficulty processing the directions. Encourage them to listen to the directions first and repeat back what they've heard before they take action. In large group, try a song to help the children practice following directions such as “If You're Wearing Colors” by The Learning Station or “Shake Your Body Down” by The Laurie Berkner Band. This could be done in large group.
