Read If You Take a Mouse to the Movies by Laura Numeroff. This book sends Mouse to the movies in an adventure that introduces the concept of cause and effect. After reading the book, print out pictures to represent each of the parts of the story and place them on cutouts of popcorn. Punch holes in the popcorn so you can string it on to yarn. Have the children come up one at a time and add the next event in the sequence. Have them practice the language of cause and effect: “When you give him..., then he'll want....” This could be done in large group.
