Provide matching numeral puzzles or make your own. Cut a 4" x 6" piece of cardboard in half with a distinctive edge, like a puzzle piece. Make each puzzle edge different. Write the numeral on one side and draw a matching number of objects on the other side. As the children match the pieces, point out the numerals on the puzzle and count the objects shown. “There is the numeral two, and there are two apples. You matched them!”
