Lay the infant on a blanket or mat. Gain the infant's attention by using the motions to the chant. Use the infant's first initial and name when reciting this:


Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man

Bake me a cake as fast as you can,

Roll it and pat it and mark with a K

And put it in the oven for Kia and me.


Encourage the infant to do the motions independently or with help.
