Recite the rhyme “Pat-a-Cake” with the infants, using gestures:


Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man

Bake me a cake as fast as you can.

Pat it, and prick it, and mark it with a B,

and put it in the oven for baby and me.


At the end of the rhyme, use the infant's name to say, “Ben, that cake is going to be so good when the baker is finished,” or “I can't wait to share that cake with you, Ashley.”
