Provide several stuffed animals, blankets, plastic bowls, dog toys and old pillows for animal beds. Set up an area where the children can feed, care for and play with their animals. Talk about their animals with descriptive words such as furry, soft and cuddly. Read assorted animal books such as Corduroy by Don Freeman or Doggies by Sandra Boynton.
