After reading A Letter to Amy by Ezra Jack Keats, encourage the children to talk about the characters' feelings. Ask, “How do you think Amy felt when Peter bumped into her and grabbed the letter?” and “How did Peter feel when he finally saw Amy at the party?”  This could be done in large group.
