Read a book relevant to an upcoming field trip; for example read, Show Me Your Teeth! A Visit to the Dentist! by Christine Ricci. Chart what the children predict they will see on their upcoming field trip based on the story as well as on personal experiences. After the field trip or class visitor, show the chart from the pre-field trip activity and discuss what was seen or not seen, based on their predictions from the story.  This could be done in large group.
