During outdoor time, sit on the ground across from a child. The teacher will say a phrase, and then the child and teacher will repeat the phrase while rolling a ball back and forth on each word. For example, with the phrase, “I love to laugh,” the teacher and child will repeat as follows: “I” (roll ball to child), “love” (child rolls ball back), “to” (roll ball back to child), “laugh” (child rolls ball back).
