Read Round is a Tortilla by Roseanne Greenfield Thong. Invite children to come up and find the shapes in the book. Prepare “shape finders” by cutting circles, squares, triangles and other shapes from poster board. Cut out the center of each shape, leaving a border of about one-half inch, then laminate the shapes. Cut around the outside of the shape again and attach to a craft stick. The children use the shape finders to place over illustrations in the book where they see the shape. Place the book and the finders in the math/manipulatives area for independent use. This could be done in large group.
