Show the children a cutout shape and chant with them, “We're going on a shape hunt. We're going on a shape hunt. Do you see a square? Do you see a square?” As they walk around the classroom, help them notice things that are square. Hold up the square shape and say, “Look at the block. It's square,” or “I see a box in dramatic play. It's a square.” Hold the cutout shape next to the object so the children can see that it matches.
