You will need enough small notebooks or journals for each child. Starting midyear, provide the children with their own sign-in journal. Print their name at the top in a clear font, such as Century Gothic. Encourage the children to write their first name each morning. After a few weeks, show the children how much they have improved. Go around the room and show each child how to write his/her name and how he/she does now. Use journals for reference if needed. This can be done in small group.
