Sizing it Up!

You will need pairs of real or found items, such as rocks, sticks, leaves, shells, plastic lids, buttons or pipe cleaners with one item noticeably bigger or longer than its mate. As the children explore the items, ask them to tell you which is bigger, smaller, longer or shorter. Encourage the children to sort the items by size into two groups. Ask the children to explain why they placed the items together.
