After reading It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles G. Shaw, take blankets outside to lie on during outdoor time. Ask the children to notice any clouds they might see. How do they look? What shape are they? Do they remind you of something? Introduce words such as cumulus – fluffy, puffy clouds or stratus – thin, stringy or layered clouds. Provide clipboards and encourage the children to draw the clouds they see; take dictation as the children describe their clouds.
