Cover a table with butcher paper. Provide glue and an assortment of spices, such as paprika, curry and cinnamon. Put the spices in individual bowls or shaker bottles. Have the children put glue on the paper and then sprinkle spices over it. Have the children describe the smells. Encourage them to pick their favorite and describe why. Ask them what they think of when they smell a certain spice. You might model, “Cinnamon makes me think of my breakfast toast.” This can be done in small group.
