Provide an opportunity for the children to listen to prerecorded, easily identifiable sounds such as animals and vehicles. Give them a card with pictures of items that make the sounds and play “Sound Bingo.” When the children hear the sound, they place a marker on the corresponding picture. Try these variations: Use a grid with animal pictures. As the teacher makes animal sounds, the children identify the animal that makes the sound and place a marker on the picture. Tape each child speaking. Use this tape to play “Friend Bingo” with a grid featuring the children's pictures. This can be done in small group.
