Read Stickman by Julia Donaldson.  Talk about the problems that Stickman ran into when he was carried away from his family tree.  Encourage the children to think of ways to help.  Show the children branches and give them a problem to solve.  Let the the children determine how Stickman can help.  For example, you need a fishing pole, boat oar and something to write with.
