You will need some wooden or plastic thread spools and some large rubber washers. Washers are available at home supply stores and comein a variety of sizes and colors. Tie a washer to one end of a length of heavy yarn. Encourage the children to string the items on the yarn. Talk about the shape of the spools and washers. Encourage the children to describe what they feel like.
