Gather a variety of books for the reading center on a topic or type of literature and place them in a basket. For example, a “friendship” basket might include The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi (fiction); The Best Friends Book by Todd Parr (nonfiction) and My Man Blue by Nikki Grimes (poetry). A non-fiction basket might include National Geographic Readers.
