Use an old pair of shoes to make puppets. On the soles of the shoes glue eyes, a pom-pom nose, felt or yarn mouth and yarn hair. Encourage the children to name the puppets. During circle time, put your hands in the shoes and have them “talk” to each other about safety. You could say, “We use our walking feet” and demonstrate the puppets “walking” and “running” to show the difference. Invite children to come up and “talk” about being safe using the puppets.
