During large group story time, introduce the children to the idea of twin texts, a fiction and nonfiction book on the same subject. Read Stellaluna by Janell Cannon's and then read Bats by Celia Bland. After reading, talk about how the books are the same and how they are different. One is a story, one is not; one has true facts, the other is made-up. Introduce the terms “fiction” and “nonfiction” to describe the two books.
