Using the sensory center, provide an ice cube tray, a cup of water, a medicine dropper and small objects that will absorb and repel water such as small pieces of wood, facial tissue, tissue paper, writing paper, paper towel, Unifix® cubes, cotton balls, and rocks. Place the objects in the ice cube tray and ask the children to drop a few drops of water into each section of the ice cube tray. Discuss what happens to the water with each of the different materials.
