Watercolor brushes are smaller and require more fine motor control than regular-sized paintbrushes used at the easel. Give the children white copy paper to paint on; it has a slicker surface and works better with watercolors than construction paper does. Add interest to the painting activity by cutting the paper into interesting shapes, such as hearts, triangles and ovals.
