In front of the child, place a container with an opening in it, such as a cup with a lid that has a hole in it. Provide a variety of objects to put in the container. Include objects that are slightly too large, some that fit the opening and others that must be turned a certain way to fit, such as a clothespin. Encourage the child to try each item in multiple ways.
