Castles In the Sand

Place 2 cups of cornmeal and 3/4 cups of oil in a plastic tub and mix together until it has a sand-like consistency. Provide spoons and plastic cups so the children can help mix the ingredients, as well as cookie cutters, small plastic toys and shells. Encourage the children to talk about how the sand feels. Ask if they have been to a beach.
