Read What If Everybody Did That? by Ellen Javernick. Talk to the children about the importance of everyone working together. Give an example from the book. “What if everybody spoke all at once during story time? What would happen?” Or ask, “What if everyone dropped a piece of paper on the floor? What would happen?” Answer: The world would be a mess. “But what if everybody obeyed the rules?” End center time by telling the children that everyone is going to help clean up. Assign the job of center checker to a few children who can make sure everything gets done and encourage the other children along the way.
