One child is the conductor. The others choose an instrument. Include instruments from other cultures, especially cultures represented in the classroom. Play a variety of multicultural musical selections from Putumayo's World Sing-Along CD and play the instruments. When the conductor waves a baton quickly (use a rhythm stick for a baton), children play the instruments quickly; when the conductor waves the baton slowly, they play the instruments slowly.
