Provide a variety of items the children can use to make a crunchy snack such as cereal o's or squares or small crackers in different shapes. Make a recipe card for them to follow as they assemble their snacks. As they work, have them think of words that describe the texture of the ingredients: crispy, crunchy or crumbly. Explain that some words make us think of sounds. Say “When you say the word ‘crunch,' it sounds like the sound you make when you chew something crunchy.
