Draw large shapes on the inside of a file folder with a permanent marker, two on each page. Place the folders in the math center with a bin of Unifix® cubes. Challenge the children to completely fill the shapes with cubes. Ask questions such as, “How many cubes did it take to fill the square? Was it easy or hard to fill the rectangle? Why is it difficult to fill the circle with cubes?”
