Introduce the idea of absorption to the children by asking each child to guess how many cups of water a baby diaper will absorb. Allow the children to pour one cup of water at a time on a diaper. On a chart, write a tally mark for each cup of water poured. Then provide a balance scale for the children to compare the weight of the wet diaper with the weight of a dry diaper. This could be done in large group.
