Create individual discovery bottles filled with rocks, soil, sand and mud in the science center. Provide magnifying glasses for the children to examine and identify specific properties of each. Provide books for them to use to help with their observations. Examples of books might include Sand by Ellen Prager; Mud by Mary Lyn Ra; Dirt by Natalie Rosinsky and If You Find A Rock by Peggy Christian.
