Before reading Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late by Mo Willems, help the children recall what happened in Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. Ask, “What characters were in the story? What happened? What did he do?” Show the cover of Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late and ask the children to predict what will happen in this story. “Do you think Pigeon will get to stay up late? How will he act?” This could be done in large group.
